Guess what I found

on my doorstep this afternoon?

ham

A mystery ham.
Addressed to Jeff.
From: Honeybaked Ham
Had we won the pork lottery?
Turns out that it was a Christmas gift from the company he worked for this fall. Although it was very hard to tell, because their personal message was written in tiny letters on the shipping label.
In other Christmas news, I went to my party at work today. This year, our gift was a fleece vest. We also had a catered dinner. Amazing. The highlight was watching a slide show featuring many of my coworkers. Unfortunately, not a single RT made it on the slide show. Ouch.
Tonight is my department X-mas party at Crostini Grille. I finally bought my gifts today. My coworker requested light beer. That's all she wanted. So, I bought a sampler pack, not sure how much of it is light, but I figured she could drink her beer of choice until she is mildly intoxicated, then start in on the heavier stuff. Right?

Bite me Christmas

I am seriously lacking in the Christmas spirit this year. In fact, I'm getting crabbier every day. Ugh. So far, I have 4 presents for Ross-mostly from Amazon.com. That's all. So, if you're on my list this year, you will soon be out of luck. I'm even nearing the online shopping deadline.
Also, we have what we thought was the most beautiful tree in the world. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any ornaments on it, because even looking at it wrong makes all of its needles fall off. Nice. Why did we even bother, it's not like we are going to be home anyway.
I have my work X-mas dinner Thursday night, I am looking forward to it, but we could only order a limited menu, and my personal favorite dish is not on the list. Grrr again-not to mention I have to skip the bellinis I enjoyed last year. I also have to buy 2 gifts for the party before then.
One more thing. No baking done here. Not that I'm a huge baker, but there are some things I usually like to make. Nope, nothing this year, although I got roped into making some peanut butter chocolate swirl things for my poor starving sister.
Bah Humbug!

Just for you Amber

Since I've been spending so much time on my couch, I've had the chance to watch a lot of TV, and surf a lot of the internet. There is probably no corner of the internet that I haven't explored in the last two weeks or so. Unfortunately, I missed this on the Rachel Ray show, but I did find it in the dark depths of livejournal. So, Amber, this is for you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately, since I am still on bed rest, we were unable to travel up north to join our families for turkey day. But, on the happy side, my parents made the drive down, arrived at around midnight last night, cooked a full meal, and were on the road by 1 this afternoon, leaving me with a clean house, and clean laundry.
I've spent my day making wish lists for Jeff to take Black Friday shopping for me. I'm still not positive he will go, but there are some things I really want. Cross your fingers!

12 weeks, 2 days

Ok Jan, I'll update my blog-since I have nothing better to do.

Yesterday I was 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Jeff and I headed to the oddest OB appointment I have ever experienced. Upon arrival, I almost immediately lost Jeff. He had to go to a drug test for work and we got separated. So, that added to my stress level a little bit. Once we were reunited in the exam room, he was kind enough to wait until the nurse left to get the doctor to inform me that I should probably look a little closer in the mirror because I was growing a mustache. Nice.
Then, my Dr. arrived, and we chatted a little bit. It was then time to listen for the heartbeat. She was adjusting the doppler this way and that, trying to find it, when suddenly the door opened and a kid came in. Jeff was like, "whoa buddy, I don't think you can be in here" it was my Dr's kid! We laughed about that, but she felt really bad. After the interruption, she was able to find the heartbeat easily. What a relief!

And after that, it all went downhill, but I'll spare you the details.

But, here is the proof that there is a baby in there!

ultrasound 12 weeks

So, since I'm on bed rest for the next 2 weeks, I'm totally open to any ideas on entertaining myself. Seriously.

Our trip to the Black Hills-from Ross's point of view

For Christmas last year, my mom and dad bought Ross his own kiddie digital camera. Ross really loved it, and brought it to Mexico to document his trip. Unfortunately, it only seems to take black and white blurry pictures, and it produces files that are unreadable to pretty much any program. And, he had an unfortunate habit of wandering into danger while trying to look through the viewfinder. So, when we went on our family vacation, Ross got to bring our old digital for his own use. Here are some of his pictures.

The joys of facebook

Facebook has brought a lot of joy to my otherwise boring life. Seriously. My social calendar for this week includes dinner with my college roommate, coffee with a former coworker, and lunch with 4 former coworkers. That's like more socializing than I've done in the last 10 years! I've had a very dull weekend. I cleared my calendar to help a friend look for apartments, but she wasn't able to come. So, I did nothing yesterday. I've pretty much done nothing today. But, I've watched some really good TV. Like the new Real World/Road rules challenge. How old am I? Our family went out for supper last night, to a place we haven't tried before. They had some seriously excellent wings-buffalo, hoisin and BBQ. My entree was so-so. Oh well, at least I got out of the house!
